What originally motivated you to try Pilates and then go on to train as an instructor?

I was 20 yrs old and worked one on one with Abi  (Abi and Joseph Pilates socks) in her private studio in Claremont and loved how I felt throughout the studio routine and new my dream was to have my own professional Pilates studio. I was instantly amazed at the method and how I felt so tall after the session.
Having been in the fitness industry for over 35 yrs and working with young and older clients, I realised there was a niche in the market that was missing for middle aged clients with postural ailments. I also was getting older and knew I needed to change my career and retrain into the Pilates method and the rest is history.

What did you eat for breakfast?

Poached eggs with avocado and spinach, freshly squeezed juice

In one word, describe your first Pilates experience?

Dynamic

What impact has the recent COVID-19 virus had on your world?

When COVID hit we went into lockdown on the 23rd march 2020 and this was a turning point for me personally in business and everything instantly stopped. I also was working too many hours and felt tired so this prompted me to change my business model. I began teaching my clients privately and this also improved my teaching and educating of the method to these people.

How have you handled your Pilates teaching with COVID-19, any advice to other teachers?

My advice to fellow teachers is to always stick to what you are good at and stay focused. Be proud to be teaching professional Pilates and educate the community that this is truly a unique method.

What’s the best thing about your job?

The best thing about my job is my amazing and dedicated clients and understanding their personality type and assisting them with their postural ailments, along with educating them how unique our bodies really are!!!!!
