As a lifelong athlete, Chris Robinson is constantly in pursuit of peak performance. With great passion and energy, the Houston native brings that drive to the service of his clients, including Oprah Winfrey, for whom he acts as personal core coach.

A certified Pilates instructor with more than 15 years of fitness professional experience, Chris learned his craft directly from Pilates legend Romana Kryzanowska. He continues his education with Elder Jay Grimes.

Chris is a two-time Muay Thai kickboxing champion trained by Saekson Janjira and was a collegiate track and field athlete at San Diego State University, where he earned a degree in kinesiology. He is the author of ‘The Core Connection’.

Chris is a purist when he teaches the Pilates method and he uses the same principles of the method with other modalities of exercise such as kettle bells, Muay Thai, sprinting, cycling, suspension, ropes, and functional and traditional training.

Chris owns the SSC Gym. The concept behind the name of his gym came to him while he was a Pilates apprentice when Romana would say “…you can sum up Pilates in three words. Strength, Stretch, Control”.

Chris travels the world delivering Pilates workshops and seminars. At the Pilates Alliance Australasia Conference, Chris’s workshops will include ‘Pilates for Athletes’, ‘Pilates for Men’ and ‘The Strong Mat’.
