New President

Meet our new President - Sharan Simmons

I am very excited to step into the role of PAA President, having spent 3 years on the executive team as Vice President I am confident we are well placed to carry on the work of successive committees to realise the vision of the PAA, that the Pilates Method is a recognised, professional and valued healthcare and fitness discipline.

The Strategic Direction 2019 and Beyond plan outlined at the recent AGM addresses professional and education standards, promotion of the Pilates Method, learning and research, member services, membership and governance. The key initiatives focus our energies to build on our strengths to extend our membership and impact plus stay abreast of challenges across our industry and profession.

I would like to thank our outgoing President, Jen Guest, for her strong commitment to the recognition of Pilates within the Allied Health sector. Jen has led a cohesive and energized team and it has been a pleasure to work closely with her on the PAA executive team for the past 3 years. Jen was also active on the Education and Research sub committees. In recognition of Jen’s significant contributions to the PAA and her unwavering mission to serve PAA members over 9 years of service on the committee she has been awarded PAA Life Membership.

The last few months have been busy planning for the 2019 conference and as we near the launch of tickets sales in a few short weeks there is still much to do. National workshop and class presenters will be announced next week, so stay tuned. It will be an exciting program with great diversity of workshops, including business and marketing for the first time. We are bringing back the Welcome Mat class to launch 3 days of amazing learning, networking and inspiration. Don’t miss out.

With the committee settling in to their new roles and planning for next year moves forward, let’s end 2018 strong and get ready for an exciting 2019.

Sharan
PAA President
